Flames from burnout operations consume fuel in the Lee Valley area on the western flank of the 430,000-acre Wallow Fire in northeastern Arizona. Firefighters have been hampered by high winds which rapily spread the initial fire and consumed 33 homes. The fire forced more than 7,000 people to evacuate and after two weeks has cost $27 million to fight.
