A Rwandan orphan pauses while ddrying off from his basin bath ont eh compound of the AmeriCares clinic in Buranga Rwanda three months after the genocide in 1994. A number of children who had lost their parents became temporary residents of the clinic. The New Canaan, Conn.,  humanitarian organization ran the clinic from August to Dec., 1994 to help refugees returning from camps in Goma, Zaire (now Congo). The clinic also treated any who came for help with many problems, frequently related to the collapse of infrastructure which provided for basic needs. The country was ravaged by genocide and civil war in 1994.
