Workers demolish abandoned mud-brick-walled huts in Ogur camp in the Lira district in Northern Uganda. Left standing the huts become a favorite for local thugs to use in victimizing locals. The United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) has begun a program to demolish the abandoned huts. As many as two million people were forced to leave their homes in northern Ugandan districts to escape the violence of the Lord's Resistance Army. In September of 2006, the LRA and Ugandan government have  observed a ceasefire while engaged in peace talks to end the conflict. As a result many residents of camps for the internally displaced have been slowly returning to their villlages to begin again.  (Rick D'Elia)
